Police today were investigating an assault that occurred over the weekend at an Anniston bar.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said a 27-year-old man was at Dee Ford’s Bar and Grille on Alabama 202 late Saturday night. The victim told police that while he was at the bar he had several altercations with a bouncer.

The captain said the bouncer reportedly pushed the victim to the ground and kicked him repeatedly in the head and neck. The man lost consciousness and was taken to Stringfellow Memorial Hospital, George said.

The man was treated for a mild concussion, bruises, scratches and a chipped front tooth, George said, and he is expected to recover from his injuries.

A Dee Ford’s Bar employee said Monday afternoon that he wasn’t aware of any fights at the bar over the weekend.

George said this morning the incident was under investigation.

A suspect could face charges of second-degree assault, a felony, according to a police report.
