Whether you cheer for Alabama, Auburn or neither, wouldn’t you love to be AJ McCarron?

He has quarterbacked two national championship teams, and whether he wins a third this season or not, his football legacy pretty much is sealed in granite.

Like many Americans these days, he met his girlfriend online. Just like Manti Te’o. But Katherine Webb is real — and she’s spectacular. She’s a former Miss Alabama who comes across in interviews as intelligent, grounded and upbeat.

He’s got a cool bromance with Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel. They connect online on Twitter often, too. They apparently have a beach trip set for this summer.

If you’ve seen those online pictures of Manziel, including the ones of him in the Scooby Doo costume, you know few college quarterbacks seem as much fun to hang around as Johnny Football.

To top it off, this week McCarron will get to drive the pace car at Talladega.

And the way life is going for him, it wouldn’t be a shock if Dale Earnhardt Jr. stepped out of his car and said, “AJ, you did so great with the pace car, why don’t you spin my ride around the track a few times while I take a break. And when you get done, I hear they want you to pose for a statue to put next to Nick Saban’s outside Bryant-Denny Stadium.”

It’s good to be AJ McCarron — extremely good.
